Day 1 - Getting to China

The beginning of the China adventure for Michael and I.

Lorraine drove us to Murray's bus depot from where we traveled to Sydney, an uneventful trip.

On arrival in Sydney we caught a shuttle bus to our hotel. They had booked us a room with a double bed only, Michael was not impressed. However they did change the room for one with 2 beds.  An English couple were also on the bus and stopped at our hotel, they had had there flight from London delayed and had been booked into the Ibis. However, there are two IBIS hotels and this was not the correct one. A bad day for them just got worse, they ended up catching a taxi to the correct Hotel.

After settling into the room it was time to find a place to eat. We asked at the reception desk and were advised that the other IBIS had a restaurant. I also booked a Taxi for the next morning as we were leaving at a ridiculous early hour. We walked around looking for food places before deciding that the IBIS was the only place not a fast food outlet.  The food was reasonable and at least filled a hole. We walked back to the hotel and crashed out.

Early morning start and off to the Airport and quickly passed through Singapore airline processes. We did have our carry on luggage weighed. Sat around in the airport before boarding for our early morning flight.
The flight to Singapore was uneventful. We had a 4 hour delay before heading to Beijing, arriving after midnight and being meet by a Wendy Wu representative and were transferred to our hotel were we will be spending the next 3 days. Spent little time heading for bed and sleep.
